At 9:45 this morning, Aces assistant coach/assistant captain Rob Miller came to Kingsborough Community College as a guest speaker for the basic journalism class I teach. Fielding questions from nearly 30 young and rambunctious journalism students for almost an hour, Miller discussed everything from his childhood to his future prospects in hockey.
At times the questions got personal, as some students asked Miller if he was married and what he’d do if he wasn’t a hockey player, but the Aces D-man never flinched and did his best to answer every students questions. At other times, Miller let loose and discussed everything from the sensation of laying an open-ice hit, the dynamics of fighting and his love of New York City.

Eddie Neville- After a mediocre year at Bowling Green University in 2007, when he went 1-7 with a 4.18 GAA and .860 Save Percentage, Neville decided to take a season off for personal reasons. Not only has the year of paid off for him, it’s also paid off for Brooklyn as well. Despite not playing his best hockey over his past few starts, Neville has been rock-solid the season, going 9-2-2 with a 3.15 GAA and a .908 Save Percentage. Cool and composed in net, Neville hasn’t gotten the same offensive support as his teammate Miro Recicar, but he has been the better overall goaltender and has single-handedly kept the team in a handful of games this season. If not for his call ups to Elmira, Neville, who is already leading the league in GAA and Save Percentage, would also be leading the league in wins. However for the time being, he is one half of the EPHL’s version of Billy Smith and Rollie Melanson.
