Despite six opportunities with the man advantage and 39 shots on goal, the Brooklyn Aces could only find the back of the net twice, thanks in part to excellent goaltending from Derek MacIntyre, who powered a 4-2 Danbury Mad Hatters win.
Devin Rask led off the scoring, beating Aces goaltender Miro Recicar on a shorthanded goal at 10:45 of the first, giving the Mad Hatters a 1-0 lead. The game stayed that way until 3:37 when EPHL scoring leader Kyle McCullough lit the lamp and tied the score at 1-1.
2:58 later, Obi Aduba, fresh from a stint with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL, scored his 14th goal of the season, giving Danbury their second lead of the night and making it a 2-1 game. Despite several scoring opportunities the rest of the period, MacIntyre kept the Aces at bay, holding the lead going into the final period.

The Brooklyn Aces weren’t exactly thrilled when they lost to the Danbury Mad Hatters in a shootout on Jan.25.
Leading by two with less than three minutes left in the third, the team gave up a pair of goals in less than a minute and soon forfeited a point when Danbury tough guy Hank Carisio scored in the shootout to give his team the win.
Because of their play that night and a regulation loss a week later to the New Jersey Rockhoppers, the Aces will look to put an exclamation point on the ice tonight when they take on Danbury on the road.
Two players in particular that will look to put their best foot forward tonight are Aces’ goaltenders Miro Recicar and Eddie Neville, both of whom are coming off less than stellar performances in their last appearances.
Regardless of whom is in net however, Aces head coach Chris Firriolo isn’t concerned.
