Brooklyn, New York – (August 5, 2009) – The Northeast Professional Hockey League (NEPHL) along with the Aviator Sports and Events Center, announced today a new professional hockey franchise, The New York Aviators. The Aviators, who will be known as the A’s, will join five other teams in the NEPHL 44 regular season game schedule starting this November 2009.
The new team will be coached by Robert Miller, who was an assistant coach with the Walpole Express, a junior hockey team in Massachusetts and prior to that was the head coach of the Livingston High School Varsity hockey team after playing four seasons professionally. “I am excited about the opportunity to coach in this new league and be a part of the Aviator family,” said Coach Miller.
The announcement was made by NEPHL Commissioner Pat Lovett whom stated, “The addition of The New York Aviators puts the footprint of the Northeast Professional Hockey League in New York an asset to any professional league.”
“We are thrilled to have been invited to field a team in the NEPHL; it’s the highest compliment to the staff and community of the Aviator Sports and Events Center , said Kevin R. McCabe, leader of ownership group of The New York Aviators. We look forward to presenting a first class team and service at very popular prices to all of New York.”
In the coming weeks The New York Aviators will unveil their team logo, schedule and ticket pricing for the highly anticipated inaugural season of the NEPHL.

It appears that Aviator forced Alan Friedman out so they can run the team themselves. Since the press release mentions a sixth team, does that mean Danbury is in and owned by Mr. Friedman as speculated on other message boards?

Aviator Rink wanted to run the hockey team themselves. Kevin Mc Cabe is one of the two developers of Aviator Rink. (http://rdwsports.com/aviator.htm) and (http://www.canarsiecourier.com/news/2006/1130/Top...

The EPHL is officially done and Friedman won't be involved in the NEPHL.

From the article: "Herm Sorcher, a former EPHL vice president of sales and marketing, also confirmed what had been widely speculated — that Brooklyn Aces owner Alan Friedman unsuccessfully attempted to relocate his franchise to Danbury while negotiating to play in two different leagues.
"Alan was looking to move the Aces up there, and it just didn't come together," said Sorcher. "It was his decision to not be involved in it anymore.
"I know that this year there will not be a Brooklyn Aces team in Danbury. They can't agree on all the costs and everything that goes along with it. Alan was going to have the team, but it just kind of fell apart," Sorcher continued. "There were some things that he wasn't 100 percent with, and he pulled the plug on it.""
