Going 18-4-2 with a 3.31 GAA in 26 games this season, Brooklyn Aces goaltender Miro Recicar proved that he wasn’t your normal backup goaltender. Filling in for injured starter Eddie Neville on more than one occasion, Recicar held down the fort during the playoff push and helped cement the team’s spot atop the EPHL.
Always stoic and reserved, Recicar had a different type of mind set from the average goaltender as well, preferring to make his statements on the ice, rather than with his mouth. Even Recicar’s goalie mask, a perfect place for a goaltender to add a huge piece of his personality, was a blank white and later in the season, a jet black, making him look more like a knight of old England than one of the best goaltenders in the league.
Simply put, Recicar is a hybrid netminder, possessing the attitude of an old school goaltender and the ability of someone we should be hearing more about over the next few years.

On numerous occasions this season, that the Aces have made statements in their wins. Those statements of their superiority have come in a variety of ways and from an even bigger variety of players, including great performances by their goaltenders, impressive defensive efforts or even working hard on the penalty kill.
Last night however, without captain Chad Wilcox [who could miss even more time after he returns from Injured Reserve due to an incident that occurred last night between him, a few fans and the New Jersey Rockhoppers], veteran defenseman Nick Grove and Mike Christensen [who Aces head coach Chris Firriolo called “the best two-way player in the league.”] last night, Brooklyn played like champs.
Coming out flat through the first two periods, the Aces got an amazing performance from C.J. Tozzo and Eric Frank, who together combined for three goals in the third to lead the team to a stellar 4-2 come from behind win.

Over the past week, the Brooklyn Aces have proved they can play just as gritty as the Danbury Mad Hatters, despite being out-sized and out-manned.
This afternoon, they did it again, but it wasn’t pretty.
Both teams fought hard all game long, combining for 44 penalty minutes, but it was the Aces who ended up prevailing in a 3-1 win, thanks in part to a solid defensive effort, quality goaltending and of course, timely offense.
“Today, we were very consistent,” said Aces head coach Chris Firriolo. “We battled through a lot last night and showed a lot of character and to do what we did today was very impressive. We’re starting to gel and play better defense.”
Miro Recicar made his first appearance for Brooklyn since Dec. 6, after a stint with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL and dealing with an injured ankle afterwards. Shaky at the start, Recicar gave up an Igor Karlov tally at 4:59 that put Danbury ahead 1-0.

According to a press release by the EPHL, Aces forward Chris Holmes and backup goaltender Miro Recicar have been called up to Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.
One part of the Aces highly successful second line of Mike Christensen and Jesse Felten, Holmes had four goals and six assists in eight games in Brooklyn this season. A point a game player last season in the MAHL, Holmes rejoins the Jackals, a team he played 10 games with last season.
Leading the EPHL in wins, despite sharing goaltending duties with Eddie Neville, Recicar was solid in Brooklyn, going 4-0 with a 3.50 GAA this season.
This will be his first taste of the ECHL.
To counteract these losses, the Aces have signed forward Nate Bostic, who has gone scoreless in nine games with season with the New Mexico Scorpions and Richmond Renegades of the CHL & SPHL and goaltender Eric Galliond, who looks to be the backup goaltender behind the surging Neville.

When 11 skaters on your team have at least three shots on goal and every player but one has a point, there aren’t many other ways to describe it.
Offensive domination.
Scoring eight unanswered goals to start the game, the Aces ran all over the Bears and for the fourth game in a row, they hit the back of the net at least seven times. Like most of the season, the Aces offense came from a variety of sources, as Chris Holmes, C.J. Tozzo and James Brannigan netted two goals apiece, while Mike “shooter” Thomson, Kyle McCullough and B.J. Kuper had tallies of their own. McCullough also had two assists on the night, giving him 11 on the season for the league lead.
Like their last three games, the Aces defense and goaltending was extremely solid as well, with backup goaltender Miro Recicar making 24 saves for his third win of the season.
