After playing one game with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL this weekend, Chris Holmes is back with the Brooklyn Aces.

The bigger question however is will the team’s dominant “Three Amigos,” line of Holmes, Jesse Felten and Mike Christensen, be reunited for the team’s next game on Saturday against the second-place Rockhoppers?

“We knew he was going up for just one game and then he was going to come back,” said Aces coach Chris Firriolo via telephone last night. “Now that he’s back, I have no reason to break up that line.”

Nevertheless, Firriolo understands that the way his team is playing offensively, any one of his forwards can get called up at any time. Considering that, he’s prepared to keep his team ahead of the curve by looking for the best players avaiable.

“He [Holmes] could be going back up there next week or it could be someone else,” he said. “We have a really good working relationship with Robbie Nichols, the General Manager of the Jackals and several guys are going to have an opportunity to play over there. Because of that, I’m on the phone every day making sure I always know who is available so I can always upgrade if we lose someone big.”

Aces goaltender Miro Recicar is also expected back, as Eric Galliond’s short trip to Brooklyn was only to backup Eddie Neville. However, even with Recicar’s imminent return, Firriolo believes that both of his goaltenders can and will see time in Elmira this season as well.

“The callup wasn’t because anyone one of our guys is better than the other. It was just that Miro was ready to go that night in Danbury and they needed someone as a backup that was ready,” he said. “I think they’re going to call Eddie up there to play on Wednesday or Friday night. If that happens, we’d get Miro back, but overall, both of them have played great for us this season and they deserve the opportunity.”

Unlike Galliond however, the Aces other signee, Nate Bostic, is expected to see ice time in the near future with the team.

“He stepped right in and did a good job,” said Firriolo. “I see him as a good defensive player, very similar to [B.J.] Kuper. He’s going to get a chance. He works really hard, does a lot of things well and is very responsible.”

In other news, my Islanders site, TheDriveForFive.com, has been nominated for Islanders blog of the year on YesIslanders.com. However, in order to win, I need votes from you, my readers!
