Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast- Eddie Neville Interview

Going 16-5-3 with a league-leading 2.97 GAA and a .916 save percentage this season, Brooklyn Aces goaltender Eddie Neville was easily the most dominant goaltender in the EPHL, despite battling injuries and getting called up to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL on a few occasions.

In the playoffs, Neville continued to do whatever it took to keep the Aces alive. However, in spite of going 1-1-1 in the playoffs with a 3.17 GAA, the team was unable to hold up their end of the bargain on offense, leading to a loss in the EPHL finals that Neville surely can’t be blamed for.

In this exclusive interview, conducted before game two of the EPHL championship series, Neville talks about his long road to the pros and how he got some help along the way from some players you may have never expected.

Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast- Ian McLoughlin Interview

The old hockey lore has it that if a defenseman makes it through the season with little or no fanfare, it usually means he’s done a great job. Such is the case with Brooklyn Aces defenseman Ian McLoughlin, who was not only a force offensively after being moved to the blueline early in the season, scoring eight goals and 23 points, but he also lead the league with a + 46 rating.

In this exclusive interview with Aces Over Brooklyn, McLoughlin talks about his season and what he’d like the fans to think about him years from now.

Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast- Bill Horton Interview & Site News

Acquired at the trading deadline from the Hudson Valley Bears for enforcer Joe Pelle, defenseman Bill Horton provides the Aces with the added toughness and smarts at the blue line they’ll need to ensure a championship. In just three games with Brooklyn this season, Horton has held up his end of the bargain as well, laying several big checks in addition to blocking his fair share of shots.

In an interview done this past weekend, Horton talks about his game and how it felt to be traded to the best team in the league just in time for the playoffs.

Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast- Rob Miller Interview

For over two months, Brooklyn Aces defenseman Rob Miller bode his time.

On the shelf with a broken hand, Miller watched from behind the bench as his team began to struggle for the first time all season. Serving as the team’s assistant coach during that span, Miller was unable to be the impact player he was before the injury, causing the intense stare he usually sports to become downright scary.

He knew he had something to prove.

Now back in the lineup, Miller is ready to lead the Aces into the playoffs.

In this interview with Aces Over Brooklyn less than an hour before his first game back with the team, Miller talks about his expectations for the rest of the season and the long road back to the ice.

Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast- Joe Pelle Interview

After Chad Wilcox’s knee injury and subsequent suspension by the team, the Brooklyn Aces were in serious need of toughness.

Enter Joe Pelle.

Acquired as a part of the deal that sent defenseman Nick Grove to the Hudson Valley Bears two weeks ago, Pelle is a wrecking ball who makes life miserable for the opposition every time he’s on the ice.

A part-time player, Pelle may not play every game the rest of the season, but when he is in the lineup, you can bet he’ll be a noticeable force.

In this interview with Aces Over Brooklyn done on Friday before his first game with the team, Pelle talks about his game and addresses the concerns some have had about his conditioning. Honest and charismatic from start to finish, Pelle will be an interesting player to watch the rest of the season.

Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast: Dan Carney Interview

A veteran of over 700 professional games, Brooklyn Aces defenseman Dan Carney was brought aboard by Aces head coach and general manager Chris Firriolo, who felt the team could use a jolt of veteran leadership for their playoff push. A stay at home defenseman by trade, Carney is a smart player that makes the players around him better.

In six games with the Aces, Carney has done just that and has nabbed two assists in the process.

Playing his college hockey at Colorado College and spending time in the WPHL, BISL, BNL, CHL, UHL and IHL over the past 17 years, Carney is a leader that can help guide the Aces to the first championship in EPHL history.

In this interview with Aces Over Brooklyn, Carney talks about his game and what it feels like to be a part of the Aces.

Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast: C.J. Tozzo Interview

Not only is Brooklyn Aces forward C.J. Tozzo one of the team’s best grinders, penalty killers and snipers, he’s also the team’s captain. Scoring 62 points in just 35 games this season, Tozzo has done everything to keep the Aces above water and despite their recent struggles and injuries to crucial players, Tozzo is still producing offensively and doing all the things a good captain should.

In this interview, done in late January, Tozzo talks about his game his team and what it’s felt like to prove the people wrong who never gave him an opportunity to produce offensively.

Candid from start to finish, Tozzo proved why he’s the captain of this team. Because of that, this was easily one of my favorite interviews this season.

Aces Over Brooklyn Podcast- Rob Miller Interview

Scoring 10 points in his 11 games this season, Brooklyn Aces defenseman Rob Miller proved all the critics wrong who thought the 29-year-old was crazy for resuming his professional hockey career after retiring at 26 and going behind the bench.

He soon suffered a hand injury that has kept him out of the lineup since then, but is expected back by the end of the month to help fortify the team’s blue line, just in time for the playoff run.

In this almost hour-long interview, ironically done with my Basic Journalism students at Kingsborough Community College last month, Miller opens up about his career in hockey and his future.

For hardcore Aces fans, this is the quintessential Miller interview and one where you’ll get the best idea of how much he loves the sport and who he is as a person. For newer fans, this is an amazing inside look into a person that has dedicated his life to one of the greatest games in the world.
